Mission Statement

Kofsky Optometry’s Low Vision Clinic aims to look beyond sight by fulfilling the vision and eye care needs of patients. These specific needs are achieved through specialised vision rehabilitation treatment and education, all of which is intended to enhance the quality of life of the visually impaired.

Goals of Service

The primary goals of Kofsky Optometry’s Low Vision Service are to:

• assist patients with significant vision loss to maximise their vision potential
• provide appropriate optometric rehabilitation treatment to improve the patient's visual functioning, taking into account patient's special vision demands, needs, and adjustment vision loss
• evaluate the functional status of the eyes
• educate patients regarding their visual impairment, including recommendations for treatment, management, and ongoing care
• provide appropriate referral for services and resources that are outside the expertise of our clinic

Services Provided

Different impairments affect many different everyday tasks, so the assessment of low vision specifically relates to the tasks people need or want to do. The Low Vision Service provides a specialist eye health and vision assessment, education, treatment options, rehabilitation plan, follow up care and ongoing support.

Low Vision Aids

Low vision aids are devices which assist those, who have a visual impairment, function to the best of their ability. From simple hand held magnifiers to the more advanced electronic magnifiers, there is a range of daily living aids available which help in many different visual tasks.
